When you’re working on a content library item, template, or document, and you’d like to replace uploaded content while keeping blocks and fields in place, we've got an easy solution for you.

How to replace a source file

Start by opening the Documents panel. To open the panel, simply select the document icon at the top left. Hover over the document name, click on the vertical ellipsis menu, then choose Replace source file.

Next, in the pop-up, click Select file to replace your uploaded content.

That’s it! Your original file will be replaced with your new one. Your blocks and fields will remain in the same positions, with the same Properties settings.

Note:

The file you use to replace the original cannot be larger than 50mb or 300 pages.

Replacing your source file will create a new version of your item. You can restore the previous version by going to the vertical ellipsis menu in the top right corner, then choosing Version history.

FAQ

What will be replaced if I have several uploaded pages separated with editable pages?

If your item includes both uploaded and editable content, only the first uploaded file will be replaced with the new one. The editable pages will remain unchanged.

Can I replace the source file on a sent document?

Unfortunately, no. However, you can replace the source file on a document in draft status. To do this, click Actions at the top of the page, then click Edit. This will return the document to draft status, which will allow you to replace the source file.
