Auto-numbering allows you to set a sequence and number to every new document you create.

Account owners can enable this feature via the Marketplace, Productivity category.

Auto-Numbering Setup

Select your name in the lower-left corner. Select Workspace defaults, then scroll to Document auto numbering. Select Add Sequence to add a new sequence and start number. When finished, select Add.

Note:

A sequence can have up to 32 characters with a starting number up to 9 digits.

Adding a sequence on a template

Now, once you have setup your sequences, it’s best to set them up in your templates, so your future documents created from this template will include the sequence and number.

To apply a sequence to your template, select the context menu in the top right, then Template details from the dropdown. Scroll down to Template sequence, then select the gear icon. Select the sequence you've just created, or create a new one here. Finally, select Apply.

Note:

Templates can acquire a sequence only, all documents created from these templates will inherit this sequence and a corresponding number.

Here's what your template with sequence applied will look like in the list view. Next image shows a document created from this template.

Use the sequence variable to populate the sequence number

Once you’ve configured the above, you can add a sequence variable to your template. This will auto-populate the number in each document created from the template.

To apply a sequence variable, open a template, then go to the Variables tab. Scroll down to the bottom. Under System, copy [Document.SeqNumber] and paste it into a block in your template or form.

Adding sequence and numbering on documents

If you need to add or change the sequence on a document, select Document info at the top of the page, then select Settings. Scroll down to Document sequence, then select the gear icon. Select the sequence, or create a new one here. Finally, select Apply.

Note:

You will not have the option to change the number of the document.
